To Elaine,

Thank you to you and my fellow chiropractor Jack LaLanne.

In my practice I urge patients to exercise (even if they have to use two cans of food as weights. Do you remember that from the tv shows that aired long ago?)

Continuing, I cite Jack Lalanne as an example of what aging can be if one follows a healthy lifestyle and recommend to the patients to pick a Juice Man juicer from WalMart. I was most pround of Jack swimming in cold water at age 92 pulling a boat full of people.

My favorite memory is the years of your togetherness as husband and wife working to spread the message of natural health through exercise, nutrition and the power of having a great attitude.

God bless Jack, you and your loved ones and thank you both for being an inspiration for 45 years!!!

To the Lalanne Family,

I was truly saddened to hear of this great loss of a truly remarkable individual. I have followed Mr. Lalanne and Mr. Bragg for a long time. It is remarkable to think how much these men achieved in developing " true health" . I have treasured memories of my father ,also Jack, practicing what they preached: As a result, I was lucky , as are my children, to understand and practice the principles layed out by Jack Lalanne .I printed out Jack's early years and am purchasing books-for my children- and I need to get his hat for when I run! I will never forget him and all he did for mankind. Very Sincerely,
Barbara

I have his Live Forever Young book and am sharing quotes with others to help inspire them and also to pay tribute to Jack and keep his memory alive... he truly was "Marvelously Alive!"
My love to your family and to the love of his life and woman who lived and created this legacy with him... Elaine.

Jack Lalane changed my life.
Showed us the true way of living happy healthy.

4 years ago I accidentally discovered his youtube videos, from that day, I said no to sweets and sugar wich I was consuming a lot. My health got better, felt more energized and was able to work out more despite the fact that I was son eating any chocolate bars or supplements .

Now I make sure to eat well, and train at leas 4 times per week.

You are a true hero to me Jack, someone that I was able to look up to, now I am planing to live over 90

I am no longer afraid of growing old you have showed me that health and happiness will stay whit us even after 90, if we work on it,

Learning from you was one of the greatest gifts that I have ever received,

Elane, please accept my condoleances ,

Jack was such a special person. It has been 7 months since his passing on, and I am still in shock and state of grief. He was a guru to me and I miss him very much.

His teachings are forever, and I am a devoted student to his belief in daily exercising and eating wisely.

He was a true believer in Life and God and USA patriot.

God Bless Jack LaLane.

I remember watching his show with my mom when I stayed home from school for a sick day.

He was always fun to watch, and made fitness seem like a good idea.

As I grew older he set the bar for fitness as far as I was concerned.

Now that I am in my fifties, there is no one I would rather look up to in the health and fitness world as my inspiration!

God bless Jack Lalanne!

My mother Ruth Fischer was ahead of her time too. She watched and exercised with Jack regularly on our old B/W TV set in the 50s and 60s.. She bought and used what I remember was the "glamor stretcher". She never looked her age and finally died of Alhemiers at 87. However she got my dad ( who lived to be 104- just died last April) and my 2 brothers and I onto good nutrition and she rose to a high rank in Shaklee food supplements. She knew more about nutrition than her doctor or nurse who thought she was crazy- now they are teaching what she did 30 yrs ago!

Anyway we all appreciated Jack's life and teachings and example. I also bought a juicer that I saw Jack and his dear wife advertising on TV.

May God be pleased to have Jack close by in Heaven. I bet he and my folks have already started an execise program for the angels ! :-) May God grant peace to his dear wife.

Alan Fischer- Husband for 34 yrs to Carolee, father of 3 married sons and papa to 8 grand kids!

I started "lifting weights" at the age of 13, Today (well, maybe not today) at age 64 I still lift; nothing spectacular - I lack the disipline - and I still advise people of all type to also 'lift". Jack was a part of my life all these years. I took joy in his amazing feats and always told everyone about this incredible man. Whenever I caught him on TV I'd watch a while and smile. Never had the good fortune to meet him but I was there for him as he was for me. The day he passed the World was diminished. He's missed, you can bet your ass on that...

Thoughts and heartfelt condolences to Jack's family and all who mourn his loss.

Jack's energy and vitality will live on in all those he touched & inspired as long as we continue to follow his advice to take charge of our own fitness & nutrition. The small steps we take as individuals can have a major effect on a national level and help to remedy our heathcare snafu. So let's all vow to redouble our personal commitment to our own health and make Jack's spirit proud!

I propose that we go a step further and designate September 26 (Jack's birthday) "Jack LaLanne Day". Let's make this date a National Day of Health when we all follow Jack's lead in demonstrating our commitment to better physical fitness and nutrition by doing something positive, and possibly challenging, to improve our personal health. I wanted to send my deepest sympathies to the Lalanne family. I want you to know that his legacy has touched so many lives for the better. I recently started watching his original tv episodes and he has inspired me to become certified as a personal trainer and dedicate my life to continuing the mission he set out to do. I have lost 50 pounds and have another 50 to go, but the greatest blessing of all is that his work is going to live on in so many others and felt for generations to come. My unborn son/daughter will know a healthy father and not an overweight unhappy one thanks to Jack's positive example. God Bless you and God Bless Jack in heaven.

I just ordered your latest book. I say latest because there will be a plethora of books written about you in the next few years. We have honored people of vision in so many fields.
You were a true visionary so far ahead of your time. We are struggling with a health care crisis that is really a sickness crisis. If every doctor and nurse was required to read your books in medical and nursing school....there would be fewer chronic illness, less heart disease and obesity.
I know you really cared about humanity. You wrote your book at 95 still committed to do your part to make us healthier. It is now up to us to take your advice and make it happen.

Jack was and continues to be a great inspiration to me. From the time I watched my mom working out in front of the TV broadcasting his show, through my teenage introduction to weightlifting with my older bodybuilding brother singing the praises of Jack LaLanne , to the present when I drag my 55 year old body to the gym, thinking "If Jack could swim to San Francisco from Alcatraz at 60 and tow rowboats at 70, I guess I can pump some iron and run and eat clean. (My girlfriend just walked in and asked why I was crying -- I told her it's not crying if the tears don't actually leave your eyes.)
Anyway, thanks Jack. You may be gone, but you'll never be forgotten.

Thank you Jack, for changing my life! I was a young chubby kid and tuned into the Jack Lalanne show mornings before school. I was desperate to change and there was nothing quite like Jack Lalanne. I morphed into a pretty athletic teenager and went on to love and appreciate fitness as a core essential in my life. As an adult, I look to Jack as the guide to "living young".
Thank you so much for all you have done! RIP, you will be missed

Isn't it funny how someone you never met, never knew can effect you so deeply. I remember my mother on the floor in front of the T.V. exercising to The Jack Lalanne Show. Jack was a staple in my life, I even have his juicer. A man so vibrant and energetic, a inspiration for all. He started what all of us start in January exercise and clean eating. Now instead of listening to all the fad diets that bombard us this time of year, we can remember Jack Lalanne and that is enough to jump start us every year! It would be a hoot to see those old shows again and regain the basics of body, no equipment!

I am a 26 year old woman who still has a ways to go to become as fit and healthy as I would like to be. And people like Jack give me motivation that I will succeed at doing so. What an amazing man to have shared his talent with us, and given so many people their lives back (literally!) I wanted to extend my sincerest condolences to you and your loved ones. Dear Elaine, Dan, Jon and Yvonne, I started exercising with Jack when I was in my early 20's and a young mother. I have exercised my whole life and am now 82 years old and still exercising with Jack and you, Elaine, with CD's I ordered from the public TV channel "Eight" in Mesa, Az. You have kept me fit all these years, and although I have the usual problems with old age, I teach aerobics four times a week in the retirement home where I live. It is very gratifying to see seniors keeping as mobile as possible through exercise.

I loved Jack and you, Elaine. Thanks you from all humanity for the role models you both were. We are sorry to have lost him but he will live in my heart forever. Love,

Your Jack is probably one of the greatest spirits and strongest of man to ever live. He showed the entire world the maximum capacities of the human body and the importance of running the human body on good clean food aka "what nature intended", but more importantly he showed the world to be daring and courageous, patient, humorous, loving, kind and respectful to one another.I cant think of anyone who cant be affected in one way or another by his life, stories, trials and tribulations. I want you all to know that as he is living in your hearts and memories, he too lives on in ours.

Rest in Peace Sir. Jack LaLanne, you will truly always be remembered in the hearts and minds of the world...

We are gym owners--thank you Jack for creating our profession!--and one of our happiest memories is when we met Jack and Elaine at the 2005 Arnold Classic. We still talk about how that incredibly fit couple was always up and about earlier than we were, and yet we would see them still going strong when we finally turned in late at night. When Mack told Jack that he remembered exercising along with Jack's TV show in the 60's, Jack quickly retorted, "Yeah, I taught you how to count, didn't I." We have been inspired by both Jack and Elaine and want to send Elaine and the rest of the family our sincere condolences. The world has lost an incredibly positive force, and the modern fitness industry has lost its founder, but our hearts go out to you who have lost a husband, father, mentor, and true friend.

Jack was a true American hero. He really cared about people at the most basic and important level--their lives--and it showed. His message was/is so wonderfully clear, simple and true. If everyone would heed Jack's creed, the world would be a better place with better health, clearer minds, longer (and probably happier) lives. In a strange twist, my son and I had just talked about Jack the day before the news of his death broke. We were saying what a truly great guy he was and hoping he was doing well. Elaine and family, I am doing exercises to all of Jack's old programs (and walking 3 times a day and playing basketball every day--I'm 61). Jack will be missed but continues to inspire.

I'm a typical baby boomer guy now 58 that well remembers Jack and his white dog on TV. I had the pleasure to meet and talk with him when he visited Colorado, back at least 10 yrs ago. I always admired him, for his respect and admiration of his humaneness, consideration for other people and mostly for being someone that just WALKED his TALK. It is so rare to find someone so genuine in spirit, reality based in their thoughts and yet full of the desire to live --- and on top of it carry it out on a daily basis.

I work out every morning a minimum of 6 days a week and while it is habit and I enjoy it, there are days that it's hard. Then I just visualize Jack and say - I know that dude is doing his workout today, I need to do mine.

Thanks Jack for being a great example of a decent human being and my best wishes to his wife - I'm sure she must miss him. TOM

To The Family of Jack LaLanne,

I send my condolances to you during this time of passage. I still remember watching old exercise tapes of shows during the early 90's and always hearing the name "Jack LaLanne"; he no doubt had a sark in him that influenced our time. As a newly-certified Personal Trainer I have much to thank him for, and much thanks to his family for being good to him. His work has affected many, many people, and his spirit lives on in the growing idea of a healthy, active lifestyle. Thank you!

I have always looked up and admired Jack LaLanne for his insight and innovation in fitness. I was shocked to find out he had passed. He always made me smile when I saw his Juicer Commercial's and inside I always felt a connection with him and his wisdom to eat from the earth and take care and pride in one's body.

He will be sorely missed on this earth and for people like me who have a HUGE passion for health and fitness our great mentor has passed on, but we will NEVER forget him.

Thank you for all you did for everyone Jack, all the people you helped and educated in the world over your life time and for your songs.

Because he taught the world about health and fitness, I was able to get my butt off the couch, lose weight and become a marathon walker and runner. I have my sights set on a triathlon at some point in my future, and it's because of Mr. LaLanne's pioneering efforts to show us that fitness and proper nutrition are the keys to living a long, healthy life.

When you awake in the morning hush

I have always been a fan.

I remember watching your show every day and stretching; in the very early mornings, before it was time to go to school.

It was a full circle. Mom dropped us off at the sitter's, then the "Jack Lalanne show" would come on, then it was time to go to school.

Then, after school, we would come home, back to family. That's what I remember the most

It was a simpler time of life, one that I would not trade for anything.

Thank you.

You are missed, but never forgotten.

It is impossible to ascertain how many lives he improved, how many illnesses he prevented, how many hospital stays were avoided by following his sound advice and radiant model. He truely put the vital in vitality. There have been hundreds of "fitness experts"come and go over the last half-century, but in the best sense of the term, there has been only one true "guru." And gurus always live on. Thank you, Jack, for everything (except the jumpsuit).

Jack, You are the "Godfather"! Such an inspiration! From being forced to watch you on TV instead of Gumby, to watching you on the news at Alcatraz, to seeing you in Long Beach and asking my dad while on the way to Catalina Island "What is that man doing in the water?, to being inspired through your example, as an adult,,to lose the weight and to "Get fit". Always on the go, ahead of your time. At 96, time still never caught up. You never slowed down. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends, and fellow fans. Your legacy will always live on! Thank you, Jack!

I received "Live Young Forever" for Christmas and just finished reading it. You are so inspiring. I have gone a year or more with no caffeine, sugar, white flour, and very limited processed foods. While I have always exercised, recently I completed P90X and have started my training for triathlon and an endurance mountain bike race. Your words of wisdom and the pictures to go along with it will help me stay on track and accomplish my goals. Congratulations on your anniversary. Your life long commitment is an inspiration to us all. My parents recently had their 50th as well. I just had my 17th. I truly believe that if I continue to follow in your footsteps, my wife and I will have a healthy and happy 50th and beyond. Thank you for everything you have given us.

PS. We just got a juicer and will be trying some of your recipes. Peace be with you. You are my hero.

Jack

You changed my life as a child as Bragg changed yours. I remember watching your show in the early sixties whenever I could.

I had the opportunity to meet with you and have my picture taken with you in the early 80's when you were in Hartford for a trade show that my friend Skip Bronson produced.

I will turn 56 in a few weeks and am working on my next feat of swimming the English Chanel in 2012 a distance of 22 miles. I have competed internationally on the US Intersport Karate Team and have completed dozens of triathlons including the World Championship Hawaii Ironman in Kona Hawaii.
.
I have lots of life still left on these bones and thanks to your example know its up to me to keep moving.

Many thanks for the positive role model you have been for me. Please let me know the next time your in Hartford and I would love to see both you and Elaine once again.

Stay Strong,

Doug

Jack, I am a big fan of yours. Got your new book, Live Young Forever and I love it!
You are an inspiration and I was wondering if you could send me the part of your book which talks about smoking? I just found out that my son is going with a girl who smokes and he is now also trying smoking. No one in our family has ever smoked and I am concerned for his health. I guess I could just send him a copy of the book, but kids today read stuff online. Maybe you could put more of your ideas online? Maybe they already are and I don't know where to look.

Congratulations on your 50th wedding anniversary and your great life.

Jack you are a great inspiration for me to live the life style you preach. I remember watching you as a little boy in the early sixties while my mother worked out. I would try to follow along with the exercises you performed. Though in my fifties now and from time to time fall off the wagon, becuse of the knowledge of diet and exercise I always get back on and get back into shape. To this day I know where my inspiration originated, from you. The reason I found this web site is as I was lecturing one of my employees about the importance of daily diet and excercise. I googled your name to show her how you are still going strong at 95 years young. I am now training my 14 year old daughter the benefits of diet and exercise. Jack, As a child of about 7 or 8 in the early 1970s, I remember seeing you on our old black and white television. I was young and strong and you seemed so old to me. Now, forty years later, I'm middle-aged and still a bit younger than you were then; but like so many people my age, I'm tired most of the time - yet you're still going strong.

It's easy to ignore a strong young man in the prime of his life who tells you to exercise, eat right and live well. It's much harder to ignore the same man as he approaches 100, still vigorous and happily married - all because that man practices what he preaches.

I'm telling my fiance we need to begin heeding your advice to take better care of ourselves so that when we're both celebrating our 50th anniversary in our late-90s we can drink a toast to you.

May God continue to bless you, sir.

Hi Jack and Elaine:

I am so much into fitness and good health and have been for many years. I am 69 years old and can lift heavy weights, dance and more energy than people half my age. I eat lots of
fruits and vegtables and drink only pure water. I came from a very poor italian family and we ate oatmeal every day. No meat but my grandfather owned a fish store so we ate lots of fish. I guess I was lucky to have been born poor in that respect.

You are my inspiration for good health and I think both you and your wife are wonderful. I only wish parents of these obese children would listen and start changing their children's lives....maybe you could go to the schools and promote good health.

God bless you and live forever....

Dear Jack and Elaine -

Happy Anniversary, Happpy Birthday, Happy Life!

My present to you is my present to myself! I decided that I'm becoming a trainer for "older" folks. I try everything out on myself (a kid of 45) and friends have been saying "Lizzy - you help us, get out there!" I am starting along a physical fitness degree then continuing to a sports psychology PhD for "older" athletes and "disabled" athletes.

I remember when you did the swim in the SF Bay, Jack. I was a kid in Tiburon. I used to "sneak" and watch your exercise shows when I was at home from school.

Jack - you so are an inspiration and innovator! So is Elaine!!

I've strayed all over the place and rebuilding myself, but you have been the "idol" or "mentor" for my entire life. I can't wait to get your program from Public Television!

Much Love -

You are a shining example for all the rest of us. I hope that people will continue to listen to your advise on all matters, not just physical health. You led the world in ground-breaking ideas about physical health, and this anniversary is proof that you are a master at emotional health. Finally, and importantly, you are a master at spiritual health! I can tell by the way you speak of God! May God continue to richly bless you both!

Hi Jack,

I got really lucky and found your book 'Slim and Trim Diet and Exercise Guide' and wow! We are enjoying the heck out of it.
I like how you model the exercises to be all about form and motion and now we're doing the ones that are for the thighs, hips, and waist. We could have gone out and bought anything more recent but they wouldn't have demonstrated the motions so well as you did.

Here's wishing you well! Thanks for some extraordinary memories.

I excersized with you when I was 12 years old way back in the 60s.
I have excersied almost everyday since then thanks to you and your wife Elaine, she was there too!!! I am in great health for my age, and want to thank you so much ...I would take your vitamins daily, and drank your breakfast drink in place of a meal. You are an inspiration to so many, and would love to meet you some day.

Something has happened in my mind that will make me successful. My goal is to be as successful as you. May you live forever and be happy. God bless both of you.

PS. LOVE your juicer, too! It works as promised on the commercial. Not many products live up to their advertising claims these days, but I knew I could trust you when I purchased my juicer. I knew you would not put your name on a product unless the quality was excellent. It has not disappointed.

Hi Mr& Mrs. Lalanne,

I'm 47 years old and have been on a thirty year quest to improve my health trying many different ways to achieve it. Would you believe I just found your old television program on your website, and although I don't remember watching it myself I recognize many of your exercises as ones my mother used to do at home(and she, by the way, is in great shape at the age of 76!)
So now my husband and I have decided to commit ourselves for the next six weeks to the routines on your daily show just to see how in-shape we can get! And we've started a blog about it if you would like to follow us

http://6weekswithjacklalanne.blogspot.com/

I wish you well on your recovery and congratulations on your 50th anniversary.
(We just celebrated our 20th!)

Take care,
Kelly

Congratulations on your 95th birthday and you 50th wedding anniversary. I will pray for your full recovery from your recent heart surgery also. I always tell people that I will live to 113 years old. I have not however kept in shape as I should. I am going to follow your advice and do it now. I am 50 years old. I would love to get back to tiptop shape and be the next you for about 63 years.

Jack:

You are an inspiration.

Other bodybuilders have come and gone, disappearing from steroid abuse and unhealthy living, and lacking athleticism. But you remain constant and true to the true goals of bodybuilding: vibrant health, athletic prowess, an engaged body and mind, and remaining strong and aware throughout life.

At ninety five, your daily training is an inspiration. The world is a better place because of the message you bring to us all.

God bless you, and thanks for being a role model to us all.

Sincerely,
Bob
